Minecraft Server: Settlers of the Barren

Many Minecraft servers claim to have an 'economy'. However, I’ve never come across one with a genuine, functional economy. Servers that make this claim provide no genuine incentive to participate in their economy. For example, why would I bother to buy wheat, iron ore or redstone off another player in Minecraft when I can easily go find some myself. Items with a higher scarcity such as wither skulls or enchanted items make sense to trade but there isn't enough demand. Especially amongst a smaller player base.
