PvP means you have the ability to kill other players on the server in order to steal their money and items. To protect yourself you may create factions and claim land. You can wage war with other factions, and forge allies with other friendly factions. There is also an MMO plugin which gives you levels for actions you do on the server. An example of this would be if you were to use a sword to kill mobs you would then gain experience in the sword skill and level up!
